Spring/summer 2010 is a season of options. The over-all look is shorter than recent seasons, but there is still a lot of room for choice. Skirts can be skinny or bubbled, jackets can be long or cropped, trousers can be tight or loose and colors can be bland or bright. Styles can be sweet, sporty or sexy. Designers such as Giorgio Armani opted to go against the current economic gloom by using a playful collection that included bikinis and swimsuits. In addition he brought back the classic brightly colored round sun glasses. Other designers such as Bottega Veneta incorporated simple designs that look effortless and simple for the occasion.”The clothes are `blank’ until a woman puts them on and personalizes them,” designer Tomas Maier said of his latest collection presented Saturday in the new Bottega Veneta headquarters.
As Milan Fashion Week comes to a close on Monday, it’s apparent that the designers, hard hit by the current economic crisis, are playing it safe. There have been no dictates this season but, rather, gentle hints, as seen in the soft core of the sexy styles. What do you think?
