The Timberland Co. and artist Wyclef Jean are teaming up to sell eco-friendly footwear and support reforestation of the singer’s native Haiti. Wyclef, who achieved fame with The Fugees before going solo,  recently announced his collaboration with the New Hampshire-based footwear and apparel company on a 16-boot collection set to be distributed this November. In addition, The Timberland Co. will also sell T-shirts designed by Haitian children and a new line of organic shirts and hats will be sold at Jean’s concerts, with a cut of the profits going to Jean’s Yele Haiti foundation.

In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Wyclef said he hopes the partnership will inspire children and put a new face on his homeland. The partnership is part of Timberland’s Earthkeepers program, which promotes environmental and social activism. What do you think? For more info check out: Earthkeepers

I have a fetish for boots and all things eco-friendly, so as long as they’re cute, I’ll definitely be sporting them !

This is a great idea, and I can only hope that there are other celebrity folks out there that will step up to he plate. As consumers it’s our duty to support the companies that are eco-friendly and buy these products.

Wyclef is alway giving back to Haiti it’s great! I wish more celebrities would be as passionate and grateful as he is.

I have been following Wyclef’s foundation for some time now. After learning Haiti’s History last semester I have taken great interest in what is going on there! If you ask me, it is about time Timberland made a move, because they were definitely falling off the map [well at least to me since I no longer where them]. He inspires me to give back to where I am from once I am in the position to do so. He is a role model to every child in his home country. I will support because it is a good cause.
