ALEXANDER MCQUEEN’S SPRING/ SUMMER 2019 COLLECTION

June 22, 2018 The Unbiased Writer

Alexander McQueen’s collection for Spring/Summer 2019 was inspired by the works of painter Francis Bacon and his pal photographer John Deakin. Creative director Sarah Burton premiered an Alexander McQueen menswear collection steeped in the British tradition. The collection’s graphic-heavy tailoring and biker-inspired looks paid homage to streetwear of the Fifties and Sixties. Evoking some of Bacon’s less-menacing artworks, biker looks featured splatter-heavy jackets and suits in a myriad of colors. Elsewhere, graffiti imagery taken from Deakin’s photographs appeared on a range of suits, creating chaotic mixtures of form.
