President Obama and Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev have taken a major step towards nuclear disarmament. To replace the recently expired Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (known as START), the two heads of state met in Prague, Czech Republic to sign a new treaty which commits both nations to decrease the amount of their deployed warheads to 1,550.
This is a 30% reduction from the last treaty’s decree and would make many areas around the world much safer. Obama noted that for the former Cold War enemies, the treaty is important but “just one step on a longer journey” towards complete nuclear disarmament. It is now up to lawmakers to ratify the treaty before it takes affect. What do you think?

glad to see this! makes me feel a little better about this crazy world!!!
FINALLY! LET’S REDUCE THEM TO 0! WHY DOES THE WORLD NEED NUCS?
Great! We needed this!
And some folks want to complain about this President….Give me a break…He is the hardest working man to ever hold office. Can you imagine in one day he is doing an arms /nuclear deal with a super power, jetting off to give a speech to the troops, playing B-hoops with a correspondent during college playoffs, then making it home in time to check his daughter’s homework. Now, that’s the Man!
