Tony Blair promised earlier today to give the public intimate insight into his decade as British Prime Minister when his highly-anticipated memoir, “The Journey,” is published this upcoming September. Publisher Random House paid an estimated 5 million pounds ($7.5 million) for Blair’s personal account of his time in power.
The book will discuss the push to war in Iraq, tense negotiations to win peace in Northern Ireland and Blair’s sometimes troubled relationship with the current Prime Minister Brown. “I have tried to write a book which describes the human as much as the political dimensions of life as prime minister,” Blair said in a statement. “Though necessarily retrospective, it is an attempt to inform and shape current and future thinking as much as a historical account of the past.”
Gail Rebuck, chief executive of Random House, said the book would break new ground. “His book is frank, open, revealing, and written in an intimate and accessible style,” said Rebuck, whose husband Philip Gould is a former adviser to Blair. What do you think?

I want to read this! I feel like when he was in office he was sort of a puppet for George Bush….I wanna know how he feels about the Bush Administration!?!?
Tony Blair… hmmmm… should be interesting. I really want to get more into reading biographies and memoirs. so many great books to read, so little time. It would be interesting to get his perspective on so many events that were widely publicized here and so integral to our contemporary history.
This is a great news! I feel Obama has opened the door for many leaders; it is important to know who is running your country, or an ally, or even an enemy. You never truly know the person you are electing or being governed by. Although anything could be written this can ease many. Reading the Barack books changed my attitude about him as a presidential hopeful drastically, he then became “a regular guy” to me; I saw My goals were set higher and I had higher standards for my everyday being as well. I am sure Tony’s story will inspire me in one way or another as did Barack’s.
