Miguel is a genre-bending singer/songwriter; whose name you will probably see everywhere in the near future. His Afro-Mexican ethnicity mixed with being born and raised in Los Angeles has inspired his music throughout his life. Working with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Musiq, and Usher as a songwriter, has motivated Miguel to focus on his own career as an artist. With his new material sounding more 80’s, electro-rock than typical R&B, one would signal Prince as one of his inspirations. This refreshingly, experimental sound can be heard throughout his latest mixtape entitled, “Mischief: The Mixtape”.  Miguel lists “Strawberry Amazing” as his favorite song off the mixtape, which has been successful and a welcome change of pace to his longtime fans.

Miguel’s full-length debut album is scheduled for release in the Fall of 2010 under Jive Records. The album’s title and current buzz single is “All I Want Is You”- featuring newcomer J. Cole. He wants his album to be filled with musical diversity and stray away from “cookie-cutter” music on the radio today. Pushing the boundaries of music is something that he prides himself on. Miguel is coming to change the face of music as we know it; hopefully the public is prepared. What do you think?
