We recently had the chance to catch up with Beck Motley and Bon Voyage from Toronto‘s upcoming duo ‘The Airplane Boys’. As the Hip-Hop music scene evolves and heads in a new direction, there are a handful of up and coming artists/ groups who understand that; ‘The Airplane Boys’ is one of them. “Using what you have” has always been a motto of childhood friends Beck Motley and Bon Voyage. Growing up, the Toronto natives listened to their father’s music collections which inspired them to write at an early age. Presently, the Canadian rappers find themselves popular amongst their peers with the big question of… What’s next?
During the interview, ‘The Airplane Boys’ described their recent opportunity to tour with Snoop Dogg as a dream come true. The tour has allowed them to acquire a stronger following and get their sound heard, something that has always been the number one priority of the group. The guys just wrapped a three date opening act for J. Cole’s tour in Canada. As of late, the independent route seems the way to go in today’s music industry, or at least until the time is right. Priding themselves on loyalty, ‘The Airplane Boys’ are unwilling to settle for anything short of a trustworthy work relationship. Although meetings have taken place, patience prevails, the establishment of their fan base and music promotion remains most important. When asked about their next music project, ‘The Airplane Boys’ spoke of a new mixtape with long time friends/producers Kenny “KMS” Sims and Illangelo (executive producer of critically acclaimed artist The Weeknd’s ‘House of Ballons’). From what we have been told, the project will be something different, for not only us but them as well.`The Airplane Boys’debut mixtape, ‘Where’ve You Been’, is a soild collection of tracks we thought you guys would like to check out.
