The Strokes‘ frontman Julian Casablancas is preparing to drop his upcoming solo LP. After a video of Casablancas and his band the Voidz new song “Ego” surfaced online, the group hit the Fader Fort stage for a special SXSW performance. Although he sang his popular collaboration with Daft Punk ‘Instant Crush,’ Casablancas broke away from his traditional style with most of his set consisting of fast punk songs. His latest material preserved the metronomic tempos that dominate the Strokes music, but changes it up with his delivery of lyrics. Steering away from his usual deadpan sound, Casablancas delivered his verses with a more rich intense sound. Check out the videos from his performance below, and as always, let us know what you think!
