Big news for all you hip-hop fans out there! According to the Hollywood Reporter, the lead roles in the long awaited NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton, have been cast. The film is set to tell the story of the hip-hop trio comprised of Dr Dre, Ice Cube and the late Eazy E. Ice Cube‘s son O’Shea Jackson Jr will play a teenage version of his father, while Dre will be played by the classically-trained newcomer Marcus Callender. Alum of New York’s Shakespeare Lab at the Public Theater, Callender’s screen credits include the pilot for Steve Zaillian’s Criminal Justice on HBO and CBS series Blue Bloods and Elementary. Lastly, Jason Mitchell landed the role of Eazy-E after an out-of-the-park screen test. As of now, limited information has been revealed so you’ll have to check back for more.
