The United Nations Foundation is teaming up with Pharrell to raise awareness for climate change issues during International Day of Happiness. Pharrell will utilize his role as Creative Director of Live Earth and as an artist-ambassador for the UNF climate change initiative to help gain support for global action on environmental issues. In addition, the singer is campaigning for people to take part in “Global Happy Party,” an event that entails people from all over the globe sending in pictures for an animated .gif that will be used for a new ‘Happy’ visual. ‘Protecting our planet is fundamental to the pursuit of human happiness and that is why we have chosen to support Live Earth’s movement to raise a billion voices for climate action. We believe that happiness can change the world,’ said Pharrell in a recent statement. In related news, Pharrell was just named this year’s ‘Fashion Icon‘ by the CFDA. Past recipients of the CFDA award include Kate Moss, Iman, Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, who was last year’s honoree.
