Ethiopian-American singer/ songwriter Kelela has announced her debut album, Take Me Apart. Set for an October 6th release via Warp Records, Kelela shared the lead single from the album dubbed ‘LMK.’ The upcoming project follows her 2015 EP Hallucinogen and 2016’s Hallucinogen Remixes. In a statement Kelela revealed, ‘Despite it being a personal record, the politics of my identity informs how it sounds and how I choose to articulate my vulnerability and strength. I am a black woman, a second-generation Ethiopian-American, who grew up in the ’burbs listening to R&B, jazz and Björk.
