The 38-year-old singer-songwriter Erykah Badu will release her sixth studio allbum entitled, “New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh,” February 23, 2010. Unlike her previous conscious-driven album, the new set is “full of life, and free” according to the artist.  “‘Part I was the left side of my thoughts — it was more socially political and my thought process was more analytical. This time there wasn’t anything to be concerned with — the album is more emotional and flowy and talks about feelings. It reminds of the days of ‘Baduizm’ — this is just about beats and rhymes in a cipher,” Badu explained this past week.

“Window Seat” a track on the album featuring The Roots is a powerful uplifting song according to critics. Tracks such as “ Get Money”  and “Incense”, pay homage to the Notorious B.I.G. as she taps into her inner swag. And for the classic Erykah Badu fans, the stand-out track “Fall in Love” is a love confessional where she talks about her past relationships.

Nine MCs will be featured on the album including Lil Wayne and her son’s father, rapper Andre 3000. The past six years, Badu, has recorded over 50 songs for “Part II.” This will be the first album she’s put out since the release of her “Worldwide Underground” in 2003. What do you think?
