“The last decade was the toughest in a generation and economically devastating. People are ready to have some fun, and dance music lightens things up a bit,” says Julie Pilat, associate PD/music director of top 40 KIIS Los Angles. ” Guetta‘s success is part of a larger trend, but I think it’s a trend bigger than dance music. man behind the booth is David Guetta, the DJ responsible for some of the biggest hits on pop radio.”
At age 17, David Guetta began DJing at the Broad Club in Paris and has since worked with a variety of pop artists including Akon, Britney Spears, Chris Willis, Kelly Rowland, Lil’ Wayne, Madonna, Kid Cudi, Estelle and will.i.am. In 2001, his first single, “Just a Little More Love,” a collaboration with American gospel singer Chris Willis, made waves in Europe, and his album sold 300,000 copies, according to EMI.
It was later in his career that a single featuring a collaboration with Will.i.am entitled, “Love is Gone”, would help break him into the industry and turn him into the world renown DJ he is today. Billboard Magazine featured him on the cover of their latest issue. During the interview Guetta discusses his involvement within the music industry, his career, and what to expect in the future.
