BoxOffice memorial weekend INCEPTION| HOLDS ON TO #1

Pulling in an impressive $42.7 million in its second weekend, Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” continued to hold on to the number one spot at the box office, beating out the release of Sony Picture’s “Salt,” starring Angelina Jolie.

“Salt” debuted at number two with $36 million, above average for its spy-thriller genre.  The only other nationwide release, Fox’s “Ramona and Beezus,” had a difficult time bringing in family audiences, debuting at number six with $7.8 million. Universal’s animated film “Despicable Me” continued to bring in audiences in its third week, coming in at number three with $23.7 million.

This coming weekend’s nationwide releases include Warner Brother’s “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore,” and Universal’s drama “Charlie St. Cloud,” starring Zac Efron. However, predictions for the big opener point to “Dinner for Schmucks,” Jay Roach’s latest starring Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. What do you think?
