Mercedes-Benz is the latest automaker to commit to going electric. The German luxury car manufacture plans to switch its entire vehicle lineup to electric by 2022. More and more car makers are going electric, especially in light of China’s recent announcement that it plans to eventually move to ban the sale of fossil fuel vehicles entirely. Mercedes-Benz chief Dieter Zetsche said the company will offer either hybrid or fully electric versions of its vehicles, while another Daimler-owned sub-brand Smart will go fully electric by 2020. In related news, Volvo committed to offering a fully electrified lineup by 2019, and Ford’s Lincoln luxury sub-brand has also set 2022 as the deadline for offering electric versions of each of its vehicle models.
