German auto group BMW has unveiled the first wireless charging station for electric cars. Built for the 530e iPerformance sedan, the BMW Wireless Charging Station includes an inductive charging GroundPad and a secondary CarPad that attaches to the bottom of the vehicle. Equipped with special software that appears on the display to help ensure the vehicle is properly lined up, a complete charge takes around three and a half hours. Similar to the same technology you find in wireless phone chargers, the system has a charging capacity of 3.2 kilowatts. For more information visit BMW’s official website.
