Since 2002, the The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has held the annual Oscars at the Kodak Theatre. However, this year things have changed. Academy president, Tom Sherak has announced that they are dropping mention of the venue as the Kodak Theatre at the request of the landlord, the CIM Group. The decision to drop the name from the show comes in the wake of Kodak recently filing bankruptcy, which we reported on a few weeks ago. Federal Courts gave Kodak approval to end annual payments on a 20-year deal made back in 2000 with the CIM Group . Now, the auditorium and venue which has been known as the Kodak Theatre, will resume the name as the “Hollywood and Highland Center.” It has been reported that the CIM Group is looking to establish a Premier Partnerships for a new naming rights sponsor. However, the process might be a little complicated since it would cost around $50 million or more a year to own the rights. In related news, we have included the full list of nominees for the 84th annual Oscars. The Oscars will air Feb. 26th, on ABC. Be sure to let us know what you think!
