Jean-Michel Basquiat’s landmark painting Untitled was created in 1982- a breakout year in the artist’s meteoric career. The piece depicts a crowned, spectral head rendered with an artistic ferocity that stands apart from his expressive works. The Brooklyn Museum‘s upcoming exhibition ‘One Basquiat‘ is the first museum presentation of Untitled. Last year, Untitled was sold at Sotheby’s New York for a record-breaking $110.5 million USD to 41-year-old fashion entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa from Japan. ‘One Basquiat‘ will be on view at the Brooklyn Museum’s Robert E. Blum Gallery from January 26th through March 11th, 2018.
