Damien Hirst’s ‘Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable ‘ opened today in Venice at Palazzo Grassi & Punta della Dogana. The exhibition is Hirst’s first major show of new work in the past 10 years which features over 190 works of art created to look like they were salvaged from the ocean floor. The British artist developed a back story for his inspiration that is centered around a tale of lost treasure from all over the world. The items sunk to the bottom of the ocean thousands of years ago, and include pieces featuring contemporary artist like Pharrell, Kate Moss, and Rihanna. Highlighted by a 60ft high headless demon that fills the entire courtyard of Palazzo Grassi, Damien Hirst’s ‘Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable ‘ is worth checking out if you are in Venice before it ends on December 3rd.
