During Banksy’s New York residency last October, original artwork from the elusive artist was sold at an anonymous and nondescript stall outside Central Park. During the sale, a woman from New Zealand purchased a pair of authentic stencils, Kids on Guns and Winne The Pooh for $60 USD a piece. What the unsuspecting investor didn’t realize is that she had original Banksy’s artwork that was worth 1,800 x’s the original purchase price. At the Bonhams Post-War & Contemporary Art sale in London, Kids on Guns sold for £68,500 and Winnie the Pooh for £56,250, which equals out to a combined $214,000 USD. Not bad, right?
