World-renowned street artist Shepard Fairey teamed up with Ebony Magazine for the latest cover. Fairey provided the artwork for the cover story that profiles the death of Trayvon Martin, a controversial topic that caused protest to spark across the nation. The artist took to his blog to discuss the issue saying “I have followed Trayvon’s case closely and I think any compassionate human being can relate to Trayvon as a brother or son and would want to see a thorough investigation into the killing of an unarmed person. In my portrait I wanted to emphasize Trayvon’s humanity as well as the public outcry for a just investigation into his death.” Even though Shepard Fairey completed the work several weeks ago, the artist had to keep it under wraps until the issue hit newsstands this week. Be sure to pick up your copy of Ebony Magazine, and as always, let us know what you think!
